1 pkg. active dry yeast Combine yeast and warm water and let stand 5 minutes. Combine flour, baking powder, soda, salt, and sugar in a large bowl. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Add yeast mixture and buttermilk. Stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough out onto a lightly greased surface. Knead 6 to 10 times. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into squares with sharp knife or pizza cutter. Place on lightly greased baking sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Make 5 dozen
