Old-Time Cake

Old-Time Cake presented by Cozy Rose Bed & Breakfast

1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup shortening
1 cup raisins
1 cup water
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups flour

Mix brown sugar, shortening, raisins, water, cinnamon, cloves, and salt together and boil 3 minutes.
Cool and add flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix and pour in greased 9-inch square pan.
Bake 30 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees until done.
