We invite you to experience the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the playground of the South. The Pascagoula River basin offers ecological habitats, nature trails and wildlife preserves, sport fishing & water fun. We also expect to be graced with an Audubon Society Interpretive Center in the very near future. Along the entire gulf coast you'll find Arts festivals, cultural festivals, the Spring Pilgrimage, casinos, Cruisin' the Coast, seafood restaurants, and a myriad of other activities to hold your interest the entire year long. Moss Point Oaks is conveniently located near all of these activities.

We offer 2 guest rooms with private baths, media room, Florida room, large front porch, 900 square foot deck with a Jacuzzi and a sunny breakfast nook with a stained glass hanging, diffusing light in soft tones. A modest collection of antiques, beautiful chandeliers, ceiling fans, 12 foot ceilings, transoms over the doors, heart of pine floors and ceilings and tongue-and-groove walls, central heat and air, and hi-speed Internet access are featured in the dwelling.
|
Oak, camellia, pecan and magnolia trees grace the grounds and a scattering of informal gardens are featured for our guests to enjoy and commune with nature. We are sure you will be delighted watching birds and other wildlife playing in the yard and ponds. The city of Moss Point is located at the confluence of the Pascagoula and Escatawpa rivers along a major migratory bird route. Spring and Fall witness a major influx of birds stopping over to rest up from their migrations. Bald Eagles and Swallow tail kites are commonly spotted along with hummingbirds, red cockaded woodpeckers and owls. Stop in and we'll introduce you to the neighborhood barn owl sleeping in an old Magnolia tree next door.
| Special PackagesHurricane Katrina Status Moss Point Oaks is fine. We are sheltering 2 homeless families in our rooms upstairs, and running "relief central" downstairs for crews coming in to help put the coast back together. We don't have bedrooms downstairs. We've moved out the furniture, borrowed air mattresses and sleeping bags from neighbors, and are offering a place to sleep, shower and eat to work crews willing to sleep on the floor. We just said goodbye this morning to 2 crews. We had a disaster relief crew from Isle of Palms, SC who helped our city until the National Guard arrived to take over, and we had a relief group from a church in Flowery Branch, GA who came down with food, water, meds, etc and went into Gulfport and Biloxi each day assisting and distributing food. They were the advance scouting party for some 80 volunteers due to return on Monday. We have been greatly blessed and just want to be a blessing to others here. (9/7/05) |
