Enjoy spectacular views from this 1913 country estate, nestled in the heart of the Bluegrass along scenic Byway 68. Come experience life in the country....the aroma of homemade biscuits in the oven, apple cider brewing on the outdoor wood stove, and farm animals grazing in the pasture overlooking an incredible sunset. Many historic sites are just minutes away, including Shaker Village, Old Fort Harrod State Park and Perryville Civil War Battlefield. All guest rooms have queen sized beds, large private baths (some with a 2 person Whirlpool tub), stocked refrigerators and cafe sets for private dining. Fresh cut flowers and homemade chocolate chip cookies are just a few of the extras at this quaint bed and breakfast. |
| Baxter House was originally a 3 room log cabin, built in the 1840's and owned by Judge Hughes of Mercer County. The log cabin and 292 acres were sold to James D. Baxter in 1913. The new owner built around the cabin and created the American foursquare structure that was popular in early twentieth century architecture. |
|
This charming home features original light fixtures and eight unique fireplaces with hand glazed brick tiles. The cabin's hand hewn logs, now encompassed by the present structure, are still visible from the basement.
